Avellino – Pescara
Mi sveglio alle 04:30, ormai ho preso il ritmo della sveglia e non mi pesa più di tanto, mi preparo e pochi minuti dopo le 5 sono di nuovo in sella.
E’ ancora abbastanza buio, esco da Avellino e la strada inizia a salire già dai primi metri. Oggi sarà una giornata con un sacco di dislivello, devo attraversare gli appennini e voglio arrivare sul mare Adriatico. Si inizia ad intravedere il sorgere del sole all’orizzonte quand’ecco sbucare dai lati della strada 3 grossi cani che mi vengono incontro con fare poco amichevole, iniziano ad abbaiarmi a pochi centimetri dalle gambe per cui via, un bell’allungo in salita così mi sveglio bene…insistono ancora qualche centinaio di metri poi demordono e mi lasciano andare.
Devo dire che questo scatto mi ha fatto prendere un buon ritmo e giusto per non farmi rallentare, dopo pochi km ecco arrivare un altro branco di cani randagi con lo stesso modo di fare poco amichevole dei precedenti, ma per fortuna la salita è quasi finita e mi butto già in discesa…in questo caso mi lasciano andare ancora prima del branco precedente.
Non incontro quasi nessuna auto fino a Benevento dove mi fermo a fare colazione. Ormai le giornate le inizio a stomaco vuoto e mi fermo dopo 2-3 ore per fare colazione e funziona.
Riparto e dopo poco incontro i due compagni di avventura milanesi che mi raccontano il simpatico episodio accaduto a loro la sera prima…praticamente arrivano anche loro ad Avellino la sera prima, vanno in Hotel e si sentono dire dalla Reception… “buonasera signor Collino” e lui “no, non sono il signor Collino”…”ma si, ha prenotato poco fa dicendo che sarebbe arrivato in bici”…”si sono arrivato in bici ma non sono il Sig. Collino”…insomma vanno ancora un pò avanti per scoprire che sono andati a dormire nello stesso hotel che avevo prenotato pochi minuti prima di loro. Pensa che coincidenza…Avellino non è poi così piccola 😉
Scambio 2 chiacchiere con loro poi mi incammino verso il primo controllo di giornata, Morcone, dove arrivo verso le 9. Si tratta di un bel agriturismo in cui mi viene anche offerto un pranzo dignitoso…insomma un bel ristoro. Mi fermo una mezz’oretta, parlo con il gestore e scopro che lo sloveno che avevo incontrato il giorno prima aveva viaggiato tutta la notte ed era arrivato li verso le 5 della notte per poi decidere di non ripartire più. Il suo giro delle Repubbliche marinare finiva lì.Effettivamente non aveva una bella cera il giorno prima.
Riparto in direzione del secondo punto di controllo, Trivento, dove conto di arrivare verso l’ora di pranzo.
La strada sull’appennino è decisamente impegnativa, un continuo saliscendi, ma il paesaggio fa dimenticare la stanchezza.
Proprio guardando avanti però inizio a preoccuparmi, il cielo sta diventando minacciosamente nero, anzi nerissimo e sembra che il peggio sia sulla mia strada. Consulto il gps mentre pedalo per capire se incrocerò il temporale e sembra proprio di si. Bè non c’è niente da fare quindi continuo a pedalare, anzi accelero per cercare di arrivare il prima possibile al controllo perchè si tratta di un ristorante e potrei catturare 2 piccioni con una fava…pranzare e ripararmi dal temporale in attesa che passi.
Più avanzo e più il cielo è nero, sempre più nero…ormai mancano pochi chilometri a Trivento e si alza un fortissimo vento…dai che manca poco…3 km….2 km…dai dai che si siamo….FULMINE con il TUONO praticamente in contemporanea! E’ proprio sopra di me. DILUVIO! GRANDINA! Vedo il cartello Trivento e incontro subito una locanda in cui entro direttamente con la bici!
Non è il punto di controllo ma posso comunque pranzare e ripararmi dal diluvio. E’ una piccola locanda di montagna, calda e accogliente. Pranzo con un abbondante piatto di pasta, una birra media e un caffè…prezzo finale 6€ (!!!). Con 6 € da me ti bevi solo la birra. Incredibile…3 piccioni con una fava…pranzato, riparato dal diluvio e risparmiato 😉
Esco dopo un’oretta e non piove più. Riprendo la strada in discesa ed arrivo subito al punto di controllo…timbro e riparto. Sulla strada incontro mucchi di grandine ai lati della strada, per fortuna ho trovato un riparo. Mi aspetta un tratto in pianura prima dell’ultimo colle appenninico, superato il quale arriverò sull’Adriatico.
Si tratta di una salita di più di 13 km che porta al paese di Torrebruna. Una bella salita con uno splendido paesaggio negli ultimi chilometri. Supero il passo e mi butto giù in discesa…penso 50 km e sono al mare…e credo sia tutta discesa…SBAGLIATO! Dopo 10 km si riprende a salire e si continua in un continuo saliscendi per altri 10 km.
Continuo e dopo un pò…FANTASTICO! INTRAVEDO IL MARE! E’ sempre bellissimo per me ritrovare il mare, mi fa capire di aver fatto molta strada e poi, nonostante io ami la salita, pedalare in riva al mare non mi fa pensare alla fatica anzi, ringrazio di poter ammirare il mare mentre pedalo e così facendo i km passano senza sforzo.
Arrivo al 3° controllo di giornata…una gelateria!!! Eccezionale, complimenti a Fulvio per la scelta dei punti controllo 😉 Timbro e mi mangio una bella coppa gelato. Riparto bello carico e mi dirigo verso Pescara. E’ quasi sera e non voglio arrivare in città troppo tardi per cui, ultimo sforzo di giornata e spingo per arrivare in fretta.
Sono le 21, giungo in città che è ormai buio e per fortuna sono arrivato con il buio e non con la luce del sole perchè il ponte della ciclabile è bellissimo illuminato dalle luci artificiali…uno spettacolo! E’ stato un bell’investimento che la città ha fatto per consentire alle biciclette una tranquilla pedalata.
Cerco un hotel con l’app di booking (utilissima nel mio viaggio) e prenoto un hotel in centro, prima però voglio farmi una bella frittura di pesce in riva al mare. Pedalando mi vengono “le voglie” come alle donne incinte…la minestra di farro in Toscana, le mozzarelle di bufala in campania, la frittura di pesce qui in riviera…sono i piccoli premi che mi “consegno” a fine giornata 😉
Arrivo in hotel, porto come al solito la bici in camera e via…una doccia che azzera il contachilometri della fatica e un bel sonno…domattina si riparte all’alba.
